Harold found out yesterday that the company he works for will be laying off 50 people today. According to Harold, they are basing the decision on seniority. Harold has been at the company for 5 years, which is helpful, but 50 people is A LOT and there is a chance that there are not that many people who have been there for a shorter time than he has. Additionally, the company is planning to have non-production days every Friday during the month of January. Unless an employee uses vacation days, these non-production days are unpaid. That will hurt us a little, but we will adjust our spending accordingly.
Of course, if Harold keeps his job, we'll take the non-production days, because then at least he'll still have a steady income! Unfortunately, many people cannot make that claim these days. I feel for them especially at this time of year.
Please say a prayer that Harold keeps his job. We have been so blessed with healthy children, good jobs, and a large group of loving family and friends. We need you all now more than ever! We will update soon.
